The unfortunate popularity of the ‘knockout game’ seems to be spreading, and is suspected to be behind two recent attacks in the nation’s capital.

Rules of the recreationally motivated assaults dictate that the assailant knocks out their victim with a single blow.

Those that achieve the goal often take to the Internet, hoping to attract admiration for what they’ve done, and, sadly, they frequently get it.

The Washington D.C. attacks are being considered as possible ‘knockout game’ attempts as each victim was only struck once and neither was robbed.

One was hit on the back of the head and the other in the face as she tried to bike past a group of boys.

The latter reported that as she was struck the boy yelled, “wa-pow”, and afterward the teens laughed as they biked away.

Similarly, the woman involved in the other attack reported that her assailants were on bikes and audibly amused by what had been done.

As both women survived the attacks, they are luckier than some.

Targets in both St. Louis and Syracuse were hit with such force that the blows took their lives.
