At times when a suspicious package is spotted, complete terror ensues. A strange bundle was recently witnessed and subsequently investigated in Decatur, Alabama. Thankfully it turned out to be a false alarm.

According to Morgan County authorities, who initially suspected the package could be a bomb, it turned out to be marijuana. It was discovered attached to a railcar stationed at a plant on State Docks Road.

Law enforcement workers believe the package, which was reportedly about the size of a phone book, had been on the car since it traveled through Mexico. The bundle was placed in the overhead dome on top of the railcar and it was discovered when workers at the plant realized the seal was broken.

Once police were alerted, numerous schools in the nearby area were evacuated. The FBI along with a bomb squad and firefighters were sent to the scene.

Local traffic was also halted while investigators carried out the probe. The package held around 5 pounds of marijuana.

While no suspect has been found, it’s believed the railcar entered the US from Mexico through Brownsville, Texas.
