When it comes to offering both work and recreation activities that are particularly attractive to young people, Toronto can’t be beat.

That’s according to the first report released by the Youthful Cities Index, which compared 25 cities in numerous countries.

Each was evaluated on several aspects that were considered to be of interest to young people. Youth was defined as being between the ages of 15 and 29.

The three main categories were, according to the survey’s co-founder, Live, Work, and Play.

Among the urban characteristics today’s under-30s deemed important are high wages, affordable housing, and diversity.

They also have concerns about nightlife, commute times, and the prices of groceries.

After all of the responses from the roughly 2 thousand participants were input and the results tabulated, Toronto came out as the best place for young people to be as it offers a solid economy and varied entertainment activities.

Berlin and New York City were next on the list of most appealing options.

Many European cities including Rome and London were edged out of the top five due to economic conditions and aging populations.
