George W. Bush has another passion besides politics in the form of painting. He took up the artistic hobby after leaving the White house.

The former president recently decided to sell one of his paintings, on a Christmas ornament. Priced at a little under $30, the festive ornament is up for grabs at the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

The bauble features Bush’s colorful picture of a cardinal. With deep red and green hues, it’s certainly reflective of the Christmas season.
The cardinal is a reproduction of an original piece of artwork that was painted for San Antonia based media executive and acquaintance of Bush.

Bush’s wife, Laura enjoyed the cardinal so much, she chose it for the couple’s Christmas card and as the first holiday ornament for the Bush center.

This year, the facility will be celebrating the Christmas season with new offerings including gifts, dining choices and special exhibits. Bush, who goes by the painting alias of “43” is thrilled his work, or at least a copy of it, will be featured at the center.

He stated “I’m flattered. I hope my painting meets expectations.”
