Rare Pilgrims' book sets record at auction

What’s thought to be the first ever book printed in what is now the United States has fetched a record $14 million at auction.

The tiny “Bay Psalm Book” dates back to 1640. It was published in Cambridge by the Puritan leaders of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, just 20 years after the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth.

The copy was one of two owned by Boston’s Old South Church and was put up for sale to help with much needed building work.
