You never really know what mundane thing can save your life one day.

A man in Washington D.C., Brian Harris is incredibly fortunate after a bullet struck his wallet and missed entering his body. He had been sitting on his front porch on a recent Sunday after dinner, enjoying a cup of coffee when all of a sudden he felt a strange pain in his stomach. (1,3,1)

Right after that, Harris heard several shots, from a firearm, pierce the air. Putting two and two together he looked down at his torso, expecting to see blood, but there was nothing.

He did a little more probing and reached inside the pocket of his hooded sweatshirt and pulled out his wallet. It was completely shattered. A bullet had pierced right through, destroying numerous credit and insurance cards.

The projectile slightly penetrated the wallet’s cover and broke the glass on Harris’ smartphone. That’s where the bullet finally stopped – a mere millimeters from his body.

The shots from the .380 semiautomatic came from an alley across the street from Harris’ home.

A local police commander stated “I am generally not a religious man, but this guy is blessed…. We’re all glad that he’s here. I think somebody was watching out for him.”
