Authorities in Dubai are shocked after a civil defense officer was accused of folding down his middle finger and wiggling it while shaking hands with a firefighter.

If you are visiting Dubai, be aware that a wrong handshake technique can get you in trouble.

A civil defense officer has been accused of folding down his middle finger and wiggling it while shaking hands with one firefighter many times.

The alleged rude handshakes occurred last year at a Dubai Civil Defense branch. According to the fireman, he had known the officer for about 8 years.

They were previously good friends, but their relationship went south after a new director was hired at their branch. The 39-year-old accused Emirati reportedly tried to embarrass the fireman in front of co-workers.

Eventually the friendship deteriorated. The firefighter stated “The officer apologized to me but deep inside he didn’t seem satisfied and then he started shaking hands with me in a bad way. Many times, he would invert his middle finger while shaking my hand and move it around in my forehand.”

The officer has now been accused of making a lewd public gesture and using foul language. His next court date is scheduled for December 10th.
