“Lean and green and with the same range as an internal combustion engine,” that’s one expert’s blurb to explain the advantages of using hydrogen cells to power an electric car.

That’s what will take you in a Toyota whizzing along the road with low emissions and plenty of change in your wallet after filling up.

The Toyota and other marques will be on show to the public at the Tokyo Motor Show. It will be a couple of years before such electric cars hit the roads and then there is the conundrum of building hydrogen filling stations.

That’s all for the future. For the present dealers at the show hope the gleam and horse power will whet the appetite of visitors for new cars amid a recent trend of falling sales.
