Indonesia's Mount Sinabung erupted several times on Tuesday (November 19) night and Wednesday (November 20) morning, forcing the evacuation of more residents.

Authorities predict more eruptions.

The National Disaster Management Agency said 6,211 people from 16 different evacuation centres have had to leave their homes. No casualties have been reported.

The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation has put the volcano's status on alert level three, recommending people not to approach the volcano within a radius of three kilometres from the crater.

The volcano was inactive for four centuries before first erupting in August 2010.

Sinabung is one of nearly 130 active volcanoes in the world's fourth-most populated country, which straddles the "Pacific Ring of Fire".
