Hildamay - "Drag" A BlankTV Feature!
Artist city, country: Kent, United Kingdom
Artist Biography: Any musician worth their salt can tell you that hurdles and adversity are as much of a part of life in a young band as fun and excitement. Arguably, for most bands there is more rough than smooth; after all, 'blood, sweat and tears' aren't exactly ingredients for the smoothest cocktail. But, where the challenges of living and breathing your art might render many deflated and listless, the best bands let the struggle shape them, channeling their experiences into creativity, crafting a path to better days through what they do best.
Kent quintet Hildamay belong firmly in this latter category.
Debut album 'Miles Away' was released to widespread critical acclaim in November of 2012, but this wasn't the first we'd heard of Hildamay. The band had already been picking up some big name fans. Among others, Hildamay were Zane Lowe's Next Hype and Daniel P Carter's Hottest Record. Mike Davies later asked the band to complete a session at the famous Maida Vale Studios and BBC Introducing backed them to play Reading & Leeds festival -- ALL this before the album's release.
Hildamay's list of live dates is also a formidable proposition, in a single breath they can boast support billing with Title Fight, LetLive, Mallory Knox, Funeral For a Friend, Hot Water Music, Trash Talk and Make Do and Mend as well as extensive headline experience throughout the UK.
As part of the process that inevitably surrounds all this action, they've taken their fair share of knocks; but, as all good bands do -- they've stayed the course and are back stronger than ever.
Recent single 'Drag' offers a taste of what the band have in store for us in 2014; an aching, angst ridden, defiant statement of intent -- the song leaves little room for interpretation. Hildamay are back, they've grown and the best is yet to come.

Song Lyrics: Talk to me tonight/I told you once then I apologised/But I lied/I'm gonna make a start and take what's mine
We learn/We're not the same as you/And If We can't rely on what was said/I guess it doesn't mean a thing
Talk me down tonight/I told you once If not a thousand times that I tried/Its just today Ive seen the cracks in our design
I'm on fire
I apologise for what was said/I guess it doesn't mean a thing to you
We learn/We're not the same as you/And If We can't rely on what was said/I guess it doesn't mean a thing to you
Call me a liar.
