Cindy Jacobs video goes viral after 'predicting' Typhoon Haiyan

4 years ago68 views

A YouTube video by American televangelist Cindy Jacobs in which the self-styled "prophet" made a prediction about "troubled times" in the Philippines has gone viral in the aftermath of the last week's killer Typhoon Haiyan.

Titled "Prophecy for the Philippines by Cindy Jacobs", the video was posted in 2009 courtesy of the syndicated, religious television talk show "The 700 Club" and has garnered attention from devout Filipino netizens, some of whom have gone as far as to call Jacob's apparent revelations goosebump-inducing.

Granted, the tragic events surrounding the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan, which has left more than 2200 people dead, have understandably prompted some serious soul-searching, but folks should be turning to more trustworthy outlets than a false prophet like Cindy Jacobs.

In the video Jacobs makes predictions using the most vague language imaginable.

"Either [the Philippines is] gonna go onto greatness, it's going to be that transformed nation," says Jacobs in the video. "Or I see that there's gonna be some troubled times. So pray, pray pray!"

Not only that, but the predictions were made for a two year period, that would have ended in 2011.

"The next two years are, the Lord is showing me, are going to be extremely important to the Philippines."

Let us break it down for you. First off, the Texas native, and self-appointed "apostle", claims she can directly communicate with God.

Sorry about that. Our bullshit detector was just set off. Still don't buy it? Alright, let's have a look see at some her other claims.

Before we proceed though, let's fiddle a bit with the alarm's sensitivity. Ralph, our technician, has just reduced the sensitivity of our bullshit alarm systems.

Jacobs once claimed to have have used her supernatural abilities to revive a Pakistani child from the dead.

Alright, we've just asked Ralph to shut off the alarm. This too much for us to take.

As always, please let us know your take of events in the comments section.
