When Tilly, a goose from Yorkshire, UK took a bite out of a barbed wire fence and lost part of his beak, the outlook wasn’t good.

Experts said that there was no way to fix it, and the six-month old would just have to make do.

Tilly did just that for six years, using his tongue to scoop up food. Over time, though, it became increasingly hardened until it was no longer a viable option.

That’s when the goose’s determined owner sought out a second opinion.

The veterinarian had a crazy idea to build a new beak piece out of denture acrylic and called a dentist friend for some help.

After the dentist realized it wasn’t a prank call, he signed on to help save Tilly.

The duo put the goose under a general anesthesia and cast a mold of his broken beak.

Before long, they were installing a new one, attaching it with bolts.

They did the procedure for free, saying the job was just too unique and interesting to pass up.

Both Tilly and his owner are thrilled with the results. The goose was back to eating normally in no time.
