The Bourne Legacy continues with a new director that could possibly be bringing in some Fast & Furious flare. Universal Pictures is gearing up for the fifth installment of The Bourne Identity franchise, and according to Deadline the studio has tapped Fast and Furious director, Justin Lin to helm the new project. The new movie will be the sequel to the Tony Gilroy directed The Bourne Legacy, which started the new story line of the Aaron Cross character, played by Jeremy Renner. The script for the new film will be written by Invictus and Sherlock Holmes writer Anthony Peckham. And from the way it's sounding, Jeremy Renner is expected to return to reprise his role. Lin has a lot of fans, both in audiences and in the circle of decision makers at Universal. You will remember that Lin's latest Universal project, Fast and Furious 6, brought in well over $230 million at the domestic box office. And with the success of The Bourne Legacy back in 2012, which grossed around $276 million worldwide, it's safe to say that the bar is set pretty high for the success of this sequel. Lin decided not to come back to direct Fast & Furious 7, stating that he wanted to do something different, which led to James Wan taking over directing duties. And we also think that the quick one year turn around that is planned for Fast 7 deterred Lin from coming back to the franchise. But with all of that being said, how do you all feel about Justin Lin taking over directing duties for the Bourne franchise?
