Veteran Blake Shelton and newcomers Kacey Musgraves and Florida Georgia Line were among the winners at the Country Music Association awards in Nashville, Tennessee.

Shelton took home the album of the year trophy, giving him seven career CMA awards.

And both he and his wife Miranda Lambert took home matching male and female vocalist of the year honors.

Crossover star Taylor Swift not only performed but was honored with the pinnacle award.

The final and top honor of the evening went to George Strait who won the award for entertainer of the year.

It is the third time Strait has won the award - but his first since 1990.
