Recently, a plane passenger who had been walking in Chicago O'Hare airport was stunned to see an alligator, measuring about 2 feet in length on the floor. The female witness claimed the gator was right under an escalator.

She immediately notified a security guard. Initially airport workers thought the terrified woman was playing a prank but when they investigated, they did in fact find the reptile. Chicago police officers assisted in the efforts to secure the gator.

A trash can was placed over the alligator to keep it in one spot. From that point, the Chicago Herpetological Society was contacted and quickly arrived at the airport to seize the reptile.

The gator, which has since been named Allie was reportedly in distress after being abandoned on the cold floor, surrounded by unsuspecting people scurrying about . An investigation has been launched to find out how the gator ended up at the airport.

A photo was discovered on Twitter showing a man holding a similar looking gator. According to an accompanying captain, the man had been traveling on a train that went to O’Hare.

It’s speculated the unidentified suspect abandoned the gator when he realized it wouldn’t make it through checkpoint.
