Mother Allegedly Suffocates Infant After Breastfeeding While Drunk

A mother in Hagerstown, Maryland has been arrested, accused of drunkenly falling asleep on her two-month-old child. Yadina Morales is facing a long list of charges including child abuse in the second degree, neglect of a minor, reckless endangerment and manslaughter.

A mother in Hagerstown, Maryland has been arrested, accused of drunkenly falling asleep on her two-month-old child. Yadina Morales is facing a long list of charges including child abuse in the second degree, neglect of a minor, reckless endangerment and manslaughter.

Morales allegedly breastfed her infant daughter while intoxicated.The 22-year-old mother woke up a little before 7 o’clock on a recent Sunday morning and discovered her child was underneath her own body.

Sadly, the baby was unresponsive. Police and emergency crews were immediately notified of the incident which occurred at Morales' home located on Scarlet Oak Drive.

The child was quickly transported to a nearby medical facility but she was pronounced dead. Morales was also taken to the same hospital for a check up and evaluation. Once she was released, police took her into custody and charged her in connection to her daughter’s death.

According to reports, Morales was highly intoxicated when she breastfed her daughter prior to rolling on top of her in a deep, alcohol induced sleep. The child’s body was taken to a Baltimore medical examiner so an autopsy could be conducted.
