At least four people have been killed in Bangladesh during recent anti-government protests. Demonstrations turned violent during a three-day opposition strike calling on the ruling party to quit before elections.

Businesses believe a series of strikes has cost the South Asian nation $40bn this year. Bangladesh is one of the poorest countries in the world, so it can ill afford to lose this money.

Yet another nationwide stoppage has just begun which, as Al Jazeera's Rob Reynolds reports from Dhaka, is hurting young and old alike.
