Recently a 10-year-old child in Chengdu, China fatally jumped from a building. The most troubling aspect of the death is that his primary school teacher has been accused of telling the 10-year-old to jump.

It started when the child was ordered by his teacher to hand write an apology letter, comprised of at least 1,000 characters, after the fifth grade student was caught speaking to friends during an exam.

When the boy didn’t produce the letter, his teacher allegedly told him to jump out of a building. According to reports, the child unsuccessfully attempted to jump numerous times prior to his death.

A note written on one of his books read “Teacher, I can't do it. I flinched several times when I tried to jump from the building.'' That alarming note wasn't caught soon enough.

The child managed to jump 30 stories to his death, off the building where he and his family lived. His body crashed into a car which was parked below the structure.

A criminal investigation has been launched, but the teacher has denied any wrongdoing, claiming the boy’s punishment for not writing the letter was to stand for an hour straight.
