Eminem, Taylor Swift and Girls Generation win big at the 2013 YouTube Music Awards in NYC! Hey friends welcome back to your home for music news online, ClevverMusic. YouTube's first ever live Music Awards kicked off Sunday November 3 in NYC's Pier 36 and also celebrated in Seoul, London, Rio, and Moscow. The spontaneous 90 minute show was hosted by actor Jason Schwartzman and comedian Reggie Watts who admitted early on they were working the show without a solid script- just note cards. Ballsy! The "anything can happen" night saw live music video style performances directed by Spike Jonze by Lady Gaga, MIA, Eminem, MC Hammer, Arcarde Fire, Avicii and more! But it was Eminem, Taylor Swift, Macklemore and Girls Generation who stole the show with their big award wins. Chosen by the fans themselves, Eminem took home the coveted "Artist of the Year" award and Girl's Generation snagged "Video of the Year" for "I Got A Boy". Taylor Swift took home "YouTube Phenomenon" for "I Knew You Were Trouble" and this is where we got one of the night's highlights. Taylor wasn't there to accept her award so Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler stepped up to interrupt fans accepting the award Kanye-style saying, "I'm gonna let you finish. Not Taylor Swift. The YouTube phenomenon of the year was definitely the 'Harlem Shake'." We wonder what Taylor Swift thinks about that little bit? And newcomers Macklemore and Ryan Lewis won the "YouTube Breakthrough" award, and in their acceptance speech asked if they could keep the random babies that the host's carried through the crowd during the show. Organized chaos, and we love it. The remaining winners at the uber creative show included Lindsey Stirling and Pentatonix for their "Video Response" and DeStorm Power won "Innovation of the Year".
