    Two small planes collide in midair near Los Angeles

    Two Cessna 172 airplanes collided in midair near Calabasas, in Los Angeles County, California on Monday. According to the preliminary information from Federal Aviation Administration, the first plane was heading west at 3,500 feet, while the second plane departed from Santa Monica Airport and was heading east at 3,100 feet.
    It was reported that the two planes collided at about 8 miles east northeast of Ventura, near Calabasas at about 2 p.m. The first plane, which was carrying three people, crash-landed on a golf course in Westlake village. The three suffered minor injuries, and no one on the golf course was injured.
    The second plane crashed into a rocky ridge near Calabasas, sparking a 1-acre fire. The pilot's body was later found in the wreckage.
    The National Transportation Safety Board and FAA are investigating the crash.
