Hey there! My name is Daisy Mallory and I am a redhead. A real one. I am 19 years young, an only child, and originally from Cave Creek, Arizona. I was the annoying little kid that danced and ran around the house singing Celine Dion, George Strait, and .38 Special. On the rare occasion I didn't know what to sing...I would simply make up words. Needless to say, I was a noisy one and felt the need to sing. All. The. Time. My mom declared the bottom drawer in the kitchen as my "drum drawer". Plastic pots and pans were pulled out on a daily basis. I picked up the guitar when I was nine years old and instantly fell in love. (I was just recently endorsed by McPherson Guitars in July of 2011. They are the most amazing group of people I have ever met.)
I have had a passion for writing as long as I can remember. Whether it be essays or papers throughout school or simply writing poetry with my grandma (Mimi) when I was six years old. Love it all. Writing has always been a way for me to vent. So when I picked up the guitar and discovered that I could not only sing and play an instrument at the same time...but I could also make up words that flow with the melody...I was one happy camper. I started writing songs not too long after I picked up the guitar. They were bad...but they got better. I would just write and write and didn't care what it was necessarily about. Simply writing down my thoughts was an instant de-stresser. Yes...I am one of those people. I am passionate about everything and put 150% into everything I do...therefore I stress out about everything. I'm working on that.
I began taking vocal lessons with SLS (Seth Riggs' Speech Level Singing) when I was just shy of twelve. They have worked with the likes of Michael Jackson, Madonna and Stevie Wonder. (Just to name a few) I attended Seth Riggs' voice/performance camp in LA, shortly after I began training with them, and was humbled to make his master's class. I hit the stage for the first time when I was twelve years old. I was the most nerve wracked person you could bump into that day. Did I have stage fright? Oh, that is an understatement. I used to run from a crowd of people. My mama has always told me that with anything, there's always that first little speed bump you've got to get over before it's smooth sailing. My friend had told me about this Hurricane Katrina Relief Benefit and asked me to be a part of it. I told her I would. Once I stepped on stage with my guitar and got through that first song...I was hooked. I began performing constantly. Unbelievably, I was stage-fright cured. I still will get butterflies before every show, but it's more of an anticipating and exciting feeling...not "I think I'm gonna throw up and then die" feeling.
My parents and I made our first trip to Nashville when I was fifteen years old. I. Fell. In. Love. The people are great, the southern food is great, and there is always something going on downtown. After playing the Bluebird Cafe, staying in a hotel weeks at a time, visiting every month, and Dad selling his Arizona business of over 20 years...we made the move to Nashville. They made a huge sacrifice by moving our lives 1500 miles away from home just for the chance to chase my dream...I couldn't be more thankful to have the best groupies (aka best friends) in the world. I love them so much. I have been living here for two years now and I couldn't be happier! This is what I love to do. I'm taking things day by day and having an amazing time. I've met so many great people and have had awesome opportunities.
My favorite moment thus far was when I played at Muhammad Ali's Celebrity Fight Night in Scottsdale, Arizona. After all the artists were done performing, we all went back up on stage and sang "We Are The Champions" to Muhammad Ali, himself, who was sitting at the table front and center of the stage. On my way up to the stage, Reba reached down, grabbed my hand, and pulled me up next to her. I died. I was standing there singing next to Reba, Kris Kristofferson, Jessi Colter...greatest moment of my life.
I had the honor and privilege of opening up for Brad Paisley, Lee Ann Womack, and Lee Brice. In addition to show opportunities, I've taken part in photo and video shoots with artists such as The Band Perry, Rascal Flatts, Josh Turner, Brantley Gilbert, and Randy Houser.
I love my crazies and cannot thank you enough for your continued love and support. You inspire me, push me, and drive me on a daily basis. I love you with all my heart and couldn't do this without you.
