A man in Houston recently jumped behind the wheel of an ambulance and took off.

A hospital setting is very stressful for most individuals.

One patient, unsatisfied with emergency workers, recently decided to take matters into his own hands.

The male grabbed a Houston Fire Department ambulance on a Monday night at about 6:30. According to the District Chief James Watson, the suspect jumped behind the wheel and took off.

He proceeded to drive erratically, jumping over medians in an attempt to get on the freeway as quickly as possible. With the lights flashing and sirens going off, the man barreled down the road and refused to stop although officers were hot on his tail.

Eventually the suspect lost control of the ambulance and crashed into an overpass. When the unidentified man was questioned, he admitted to cops that he stole the emergency vehicle.

His reasoning for the theft was because he claimed his head was pounding and medical personnel in the emergency room weren’t paying attention to him. The man was quickly arrested and taken into police custody.

Houston’s police and fire departments have launched an investigation to find out how the suspect was able to get behind the wheel and steal the ambulance.
