Syria peace talks plans in jeopardy

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry says that both sides in Syria will continue to fight and to fight and to fight.

Kerry, is in London among foreign ministers from 11 countries hoping to launch the so-called Geneva 2 peace talks to end the war.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. SECRETARY OF STATE JOHN KERRY, SAYING:

"This war will not come to an end on the battlefield, I believe, and I think most people believe, it will come to an end through a negotiated settlement."

But getting the parties to the table is posing problems. Members of the opposition say they will only back talks aimed at the President bashar al-Assad's exit.

Meanwhile Assad says he has no plans to go anywhere saying he may run for re-election next year.
