Michael Bay sets the story straight about his attacker on set of Transformers 4.
Yesterday, we heard that Michael Bay was attacked while filming on location in Hong Kong for Transformers 4. Afterwards, two very different stories came out on how things went down. But knowing Michael Bay, we knew it would only be a matter of time before the director would take to his personal website to give us his version of the story. And from the way it sounds on his blog, Bay thought he was being attacked by a zombie!
Here's the directors account of the incident. So, in the morning a group of guys (who appeared to be drugged) approached members of Bays crew claiming that their music was too loud and then demanded thousands of dollars for the disturbance. They then began to roll metal carts into some of the actors on set, and threatened to hit them with bricks. And that's when Bay stepped interceded. Told the guys he wasn't paying them any more, and shooed them off set. The director says that all of the local vendors we're paid fairly for the inconvenience, but these guys were demanding four times the amount that they were paid.
Well, an hour later things started getting crazy. One of the guys returned to set carrying an air conditioner unit and swung it at Bays head. Bay then ducked and pushed the guy away, and by that time a crew of big security guys had jumped in. But apparently, it took 7 people to hold the guy down and at one point Bay said quote "It was like a Zombie in Brad Pitt's movie World War Z. He lifted seven guys up and tried to bite them. He actually bit into one of the guard's Nike shoe, insane. Thank God it was an Air Max, the bubble popped, but the toe was saved."
So, don't be surprised if we see a Nike Air Max product placement in a future Michael Bay film, but I digress. Bay said that once the police arrived it took fifteen cops in riot gear to get things under control, but that afterwards things went really smoothly during the shoot.
So, no one was hurt, all is well, and Michael Bay is back to work. But we do have to commend Bay for stepping up to defend his actors.
