Azerbaijan is holding its sixth presidential election since independence and President Ilham Aliyev looks sure to be re-elected for a third five-year-term.

Two main opposition parties will be putting up a joint candidate for the first time - they boycotted the 2008 elections - but international observers think it will make little difference.
