George Lucas Still Close To STAR WARS Production

Even though George Lucas handed over the Star Wars torch to Disney, and ultimately to JJ Abrams, don't think he's stepped away completely from the production process of Episode VII. Star Wars creator, George Lucas, is constantly talking to JJ Abrams about production on the new film, and has apparently set some parameters for the project. This is according to Jett Lucas, George's son, who was interviewed recently by Flicks And The City, who compared Lucas to a dad who is having a hard time letting his kid leave the house for the first time. Jett said quote "He's constantly talking to J.J. Obviously J.J. was handpicked. He [Lucas] is there to guide, whenever, he'll help where he can. At the same time, he wants to let it go and become its new generation." Jett admitted that he knows exactly what's going to happen in the film, and hes happy with it, but he's not giving away too many details. Although, he did say that the idea of Benedict Cumberbatch joining Star Wars, which was rumored for a while, wouldn't thrill him too much and that having crossover between Star Trek and Star Wars would be the quote "beginning of the apocalypse." Which leads us to believe that there may be little truth to that rumor. And Jett also said that he would like to see Irish actress Saoirse Ronan get cast in the new film, who we all know has auditioned recently, because to him she represents a fresh face. And for the overall casting, Jett said that they are looking for less mainstream talents to take on these new roles. So, are you all pleased that George Lucas is still close to the production on Star Wars Episode VII? And after hearing Jett's opinion of Star Trek crossover, do you think that there is any weight to all of those Benedict Cumberbatch rumors?
