In the past few weeks, a slew of reports have come in from Washington, DC involving robberies in which the suspects were armed with a Taser.
Tasers were invented primarily as a law enforcement tool but just like any other innovation, this invention also has unintended consequences.
In the past few weeks, a slew of reports have surfaced in the Washington, DC area involving robberies in which the suspects were armed with a Taser.
Last week, three males were robbed in close proximity to the Convention Center near Logan Circle. The culprits managed to get away with the victims’ wallets, cell phones and several other valuable personal items.
The taser was used in one of those crimes. Then on September 29th, a newspaper delivery man in the Capitol Hill neighborhood was targeted and approached by a man armed with a Taser. According to that victim, the suspect told him to 'Give it up.'
The assailant stole the delivery man’s keys and drove away. On the same night, four men approached a man who was walking alone in an alley.
A witness to that incident claimed the four crooks circled around the victim and Tasered him before stealing his iPhone. While it remains unknown if all the cases are connected, police claim Hispanic men seem to be the targets.
Law enforcement has released surveillance images featuring three of the suspected attackers.
