Transcript:
Born as a tiny arcade cabinet manufacturer, Capcom was the child of I.R.M. Corporation and its subsidiary, Japan Capsule Computers Company. In 1983, they released their first coin-operated machine, Little League, but it wasn't until a year later that Capcom would become the proud parents of their first and proper arcade game, Vulgus.

Building upon that, the Capcom we know and love today was officially established in 1989 with the sole purpose of selling software. The next couple years would see classics such as 1942, Commando, and Ghosts 'n Goblins unleashed on the public, but the port of 1942 to the NES would mark their grand entrance into the home console market. Other ports quickly followed but none matched the popularity of the two games that cemented Capcom's legacy: Street Fighter and Megaman, both released in 1987.

The two hallmark franchises were birthed by a couple of flukes; Street Fighter's creator ended up at Capcom because he was fired from Konami and Mega Man underperformed at retail but luckily became a sleeper hit overseas thanks to word of mouth. The Blue Bomber and the World Warriors received genre-defining sequels which, today, are considered the most influential video games of all time. I mean, everybody knows bubbles put out fires and quarter-circle-forward-anything is a special move, right?

Have fun!
