We've got the latest on J.K. Rowling's upcoming novel adaptation, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. A couple of weeks ago we got word that Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling had just made a deal with Warner Bros to produce a brand new wizarding world franchise based on Rowlings book series, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The plot of the story was said to be completely different than Harry Potter, however it was supposed to have similar themes and is set within the same universe as the Potter movies. Entertainment Weekly recently chatted with Harry Potter producer David Heyman, who was also responsible for discovering the Fantastic Beasts book series and pitching it to Warner. Heyman confirmed that he would be producing the project and he also said that Rowling is currently working on the first draft of the script. But what about the story? What should we all expect? Well, Fantastic Beasts follows the life of Newt Scamander, who is a magizoologist which is the study of magical creatures. And when this news first broke, Rowling described the project saying quote "The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt's story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry's gets underway." But if you've read the books, don't think you wont be surprised once you see the movie. Heyman said that Rowling has an infinite amount of ideas for the script and she apparently has notebooks full of extra material. Heyman said quote "What you read in the books was just the surface of her knowledge. I would call her and say, 'What's the sixth use of dragon's blood?' and she'd have it at her fingertips." So, with the success of the Harry Potter films, and all of this extra material Rowling has, we can see why Warner Bros is hoping that this property will be a huge franchise. But, it will probably be a while before we have a release date for you guys, and I would even predict we wont see it rolling out until possibly 2016. Until then we will keep you updated as things develop. But before you go, I have to know your thoughts on this Fantastic Beasts project? Are you excited to see this universe continue on with a new story on the big screen? You know the drill! Lets chat about it right here, and over on Facebook and Twitter as well. We want hear your thoughts on this one. From our studio, in Hollywood, Im Erin White and Ill see you next time.
