Spanish politicians say that the reason the nation’s workers are stressed, suffer from low productivity, and are tired all the time is because the country is in the wrong time zone.

Spain is, in fact, not in the zone it should be and runs an hour ahead of many of their European neighbors.

Prior to 1942, they were in sync with Portugal and the UK, which from a geographic standpoint they should be.

When Spanish dictator General Franco entered the picture, he reset the country’s clocks so they would align with those in Nazi Germany.

Somehow, they never got changed back.

Well, many Spanish officials think that’s something that should happen sooner rather than later.

In their report they assert that the difference has a significant negative impact on the country’s citizens.

For one, it actually extends their workday as they work until the evening hours.

As a result, less time is spent with families, evening meals get consumed late in the day, and Spaniards get less sleep than is recommended by the World Health Organization.

The goal is to give those living and working in Spain the opportunity to have a 9-5 lifestyle.
