Nineteen people died and more than 20 were injured in a collision between an overnight bus and a cement truck on a busy highway in central Thailand early Tuesday.
According to reports, the accident happened at around 4:30 am on the Mittraphap Road in Kaeng Khoi district, in Saraburi province.

The double decker coach was travelling from Bangkok to Roi-et. The 18-wheeler was coming from the opposite direction. Authorities believe the truck driver lost control of the vehicle, drove through a barrier in the centre of the road and swerved into the bus.
The bus caught fire right after the collision, trapping the drivers and most of the passengers inside. Eighteen people died at the scene, while one died at the hospital, AFP reported.

According to the BBC, an investigation is underway to determine how many people were on board the bus. The truck driver suffered slight injuries and was detained for questioning by the police. A pickup truck behind the bus was also involved in the collision, the BBC reported.
