Amateur videos posted on a social media website purportedly show the aftermath of a car bomb which exploded in Rankus, a town 30 kilometers (20 miles) north of the Syrian capital Damascus on Friday.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the explosion killed at least 20 people and wounded dozens more.

One video shows a fire engine arriving towards the scene of the blast and firefighters using water hoses to extinguish flames.

Another video shows men carrying the bodies of victims and placing them on the back of a pickup truck.

A third video shows the wreckage of the car which exploded outside the Khalid Bin al-Walid Mosque.

Reuters is unable to independently verify the content of this video, which has been obtained from a social media website.
