Video filmed by Kenya Red Cross shows the chaos outside the Westgate shopping mall in the capital Nairobi after it was attacked by al Shabaab militants.

Kenya Red Cross volunteers rushed to the elevated parking lot where many of the injured laid, crying for help.

Volunteers covered one body with a sheet, while another injured man lay on the ground in the area where a cooking competition was being held.

While some of the injured on stretchers were put in ambulances, some were put at the back of pick-up vehicles.

One woman was filmed being given water as volunteers administered first aid.

Kenyan authorities are holding eight people in connection with the attack that killed 67 civilians and soldiers.

Somali Islamist group al Shabaab said Saturday's attack, which ended after a four-day siege by soldiers and police, was "just the premiere of Act 1" and suggested it would be followed by other actions by its "warriors."
