New Island Created After Earthquake in Pakistan

After a 7 point 7 magnitude earthquake that happened in the country of Pakistan, a new island has emerged off the western coast near the town of Gwadar.
After a 7 point 7 magnitude earthquake hit a rural, inland area of western Pakistan, a new island has emerged off the coast near the town of Gwadar.
Experts theorize that a mud volcano that was stirred up by the earthquake might be responsible for the rising land mass, which is estimated to be around 200 feet long.
A couple of times in recent history, islands have risen from the sea off the coast of Pakistan, including in 1968, when local residents say an island appeared after an earthquake and remained off the coast for a year, before retreating back into the water.
Also, back in the 1940s a relatively large island came up from the sea, but it reportedly didn’t last very long.
The distance of the new island from the center of the earthquake activity is something that is surprising to one expert.
A local fisherman said he has plans to take his boat out to explore the new island up close.
The earthquake has impacted hundreds of thousands of lives, and destroyed many mud houses in the mountainous area.
