    Methi Masoor ki Daal

    Recipe to prepare "Methi Masoor ki Dal":

    1 tbsp vegetable oil
    3-4 black pepper corns
    2 clove buds
    1 small piece cinnamon
    1 tsp mustard seeds
    1/2 tsp cumin seeds
    1 pinch asafoetida
    8-10 curry leaves
    2-3 green chillies, chopped
    1 bulblet onion, finely sliced
    2-3 garlic cloves, freshly grated
    1/2 inch ginger, freshly grated
    2 tomatoes, chopped
    1/4 tsp turmeric powder
    1/2 tsp red chilli powder
    1/2 tsp coriander powder
    salt to taste
    200 gms split and skinless red lentil, soaked in water
    1/2 cup chopped raw mango
    1 bowl fenugreek leaves
    1 glass water
    1/2 tsp garam masala

    Heat oil in a pan.
    Add in black pepper, clove and cinnamon; saute well.
    Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves and green chillies; mix well.
    Add onion and saute until transparent.
    Add garlic and ginger; saute for a little while.
    Add tomatoes and mix well.
    Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder; mix well.
    Add salt; stir and cook until tomatoes turn soft.
    Add soaked lentil and stir well for 1-2 minutes.
    Add raw mango and mix it.
    Add fenugreek leaves and mix again.
    Turn the flame low, and cover the pan to let it cook for around 2 minutes.
    Uncover and stir once. Add water and mix well.
    Add garam masala and mix once.
    Cover again for around 2 minutes to let it cook.
    Uncover and stir once.
    Methi Masoor ki Dal is ready to serve.
