Eighteen anti-coup protesters have been arrested in Alexandria and a further 11 in Mahalla City as supporters and opponents of Egypt's ousted president clashed during demonstrations.

Thousands of people protesting against military rule took to the streets across Egypt on Friday in rallies dubbed "Loyalty to the Martyrs' Blood", calling for deposed President Mohamed Morsi to be reinstated.

Al Jazeera correspondent, who we cannot name for security reasons, reports from Cairo.
