The Uji shower head is a solution to water and energy waste. The device lights up, turning from green to red when the shower taker is enjoying the steady stream of water for a little too long.
There is probably no better relief after a stressful day than a long, hot shower. However, if you have a habit of taking excessively long showers, it can be wasteful in terms of both water and energy.
The Uji shower head is a solution to the problem. The device lights up; turning from green to red when the shower taker is enjoying the steady stream of water for a little too long.
One of the co-inventors of the device stated “It encourages people to take shorter and more energy efficient showers. By letting people become aware of how long they're in the shower, we've actually been able to cut shower time by 12 percent.”
You get about 7 minutes in the shower before the head turns red.
The goal is for people to hop out by minute 8. The inventors are still working on the device and may alter the amount of time allotted.
They also hope to create a model that will allow users to set their own time. The designers are working to have the showerhead available for sale sometime in early 2014.
