According to a recent study, men are less adventurous than they were back in the 1970s.

Researchers looked at results from surveys taken in 1978 and in 2013.

Both times men responded overall that they are more adventurous and risk taking than women.

But when researchers from the University of Saint Andrews compared the results from 35 years apart along with 72 other data sets on the subject, they found that men have become less adventurous over the years.

When survey respondents were asked how much they participated in thrill seeking or adventurous behavior, men who took the survey in 2013 were found to be 28 percent more adventurous than women, compared with 48 percent in 1978.

The researchers wrote that “women could be showing a greater willingness to engage in thrill and adventure seeking relative to men over time, while changes in absolute scores are being influenced by other factors such as average fitness levels."

The change is being attributed to men becoming less adventurous and out of shape, rather than women becoming more accepted in the realm of sports and other thrill seeking activities.
