Mattel's highly successful toy line "Max Steel" is headed for the big screen! Produced by Dolphin Films, the multi-platform franchise, which already includes video games and an animated series, is movin' on up in Hollywood. Even thought the project is still in development, it already has an impressive creative team on board with Stewart Hendler directing (who has previously worked on the digital series' "H+" and "Halo: Forward Unto Dawn") with screenwriter Christopher Yost working on the script. And for those of you who don't know, Yost was one of the writers and producers behind Thor: The Dark World. Now, a Max Steel movie adaptation has been in the works for a while, with talks of Taylor Lautner previously being attached to a live action version of the film, but that project fell through in 2009 and no new names have been attached since. But things are moving again and just like in the animated reboot, the movie will follow teenager Maxwell McGrath who forms a friendship with an alien, Steel, to combine special powers that create the superhero Max Steel. Further plot lines have yet to be revealed, but if it's anything like the game it will be action-packed along with some great laughs. A new branch of Dolphin Entertainment, Dolphin Films, focuses primarily on family, and teen audiences. Head of Dolphin Entertainment, Bill O'Dowd, believes that "Max Steel" is the perfect project to kick start Dolphin Films because it focuses on " the power of friendship and teamwork with a heavy dose of humor. Mattel is also busy right now developing other IPs into movies, like He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, but from the way it sounds Max Steel will be the first of the company's projects to hit theaters, which is expected to be sometime towards the end of 2014. But even with an experienced director and writer do you think this will be a successful toy line to movie crossover?
