Video captures Peruvian volcano eruption

Peru's Ubinas volcano erupted on Monday (September 02), spewing ash around its crater but authorities said there was no immediate danger to the general population.

Members of Peru's Institute of Geophysics captured dramatic video at the precise moment the volcano spewed ash, sending the team scrambling for cover just below the crater.

Geophysics experts said the series of small explosions are tied to the infiltration of snow into it's crater.

Peru experienced its heaviest snowfall in ten years.

Last week President Ollanta Humala announced an emergency in nine provinces in the region which have been affected by low temperatures and snowfall.
