In-Flight Entertainment Unit's Message Calls Passenger an 'Idiot'

A female plane passenger decided to watch a movie on her flight, but she couldn’t get the entertainment unit to function properly. It finally lit up boasting a rude message across the screen.

One female flyer was left shocked after being called an idiot; not by human staff but by the in-flight entertainment system.

The unnamed lady had been on an Air India flight from London to Mumbai. About five hours into the long journey, the woman decided to watch a movie, but she couldn’t get the entertainment unit to function properly.

She pushed buttons and adjusted switches but initially there was no electronic response. Then it lit up, seemingly on its own, boasting a rude message across the screen.

The top noted ‘The selection is not currently available. Please try again later.”While that phrase is common when it comes to faulty electronic equipment, the message at the bottom was far from normal. It read ‘"Lie low ... Sit down you idiot!".

Naturally the woman was shocked. She complained to the cabin crew and received an apology.

Airline sources initially thought the saying was the work of a disgruntled employee.

However an Air India spokesperson claimed an investigation into the incident indicated that the nasty message was actually an English subtitle of a Hindi movie that the female passenger had been trying to watch.
