Crushing quake strikes China

The quake, with a depth of about 10 kilometres, struck the border area of Yunnan and Sichuan provinces at 8:04 a.m. (0004GMT) on Saturday morning, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

China's state broadcaster CCTV said the earthquake damaged 484 houses in Yunnan's Diqing prefecture, displacing 60,000 people.

Aftershocks have also caused temporary blackout and landslides that damaged roads.
