Los Angeles Owners Anne Marie Avey and Eric Rosario named the 2-year-old cat “Colonel Meow” due to his “epic frown and fur.” They created his own website, YouTube channel, and other social media profiles portraying him as a maniacal, but still lovable, dictator. Since then, Colonel Meow has had more than 2 million online views.
Craig Glenday, Editor-in-Chief for Guinness World Records, said, “the furry feline will be a big hit with readers…he’ll undoubtedly inspire people all around to the world to whip out their rulers and start measuring their own cat’s fur.”
Three separate vets measured Colonel Meow’s fur, using 10 hairs to calculate an average length. Guinness World Records confirmed it as a new record.
Adopted from the Himalayan & Persian Society, Colonel Meow requires the efforts of both owners to get his hair completely brushed two or three times per week. On their Christmas list this year: more vacuum cleaners.
