E.D.N. III is a cold, cold place. You would need a massive walking tank just to get around. Fortunately, James Peyton has one. Released in 2013, Lost Planet 3 is a prequel that takes places long before the events of the original Lost Planet. Peyton is on E.D.N. III for work, separated from his wife and child, and feeling awfully homesick. It probably doesn't help that alien ice bugs are trying to eat him. Lost Planet 3 is a fairly standard third-person shooter in design, built in the familiar Resident Evil 4 and Gears of War over-the-shoulder style. But the game sets itself apart in terms of its settings and means of transportation. Specifically, the snow and the mech. Lost Planet 3 takes place on a frozen world that, while dangerous, is often gorgeous to look at. And your mech is like a home away from home, providing players with a warm ride as well as refills on ammunition. Once you leave the cockpit, however, all bets are off. Lost Planet 3 features a single-player campaign as well as online multiplayer. This video review features video gameplay footage of Lost Planet 3 for the PlayStation 3 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
