Wondering where you'll find the safest roads in America?

Allstate Insurance has crunched the numbers and declared that safest place is Fort Collins, Colorado.

This marks the third consecutive victory for the town, which is home to Colorado State University.

Drivers there on average only get in 1 accident every 13.9 years, which is 28 percent less frequent than the 10-year national average.

Taking second place was Boise, Idaho followed by Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

In determining the safest places to get on the road the company’s actuaries combed through claims filed in the 200 most populated cities and towns in the country.

Among the urban giants with a million citizens or more Phoenix took top honors, coming in at 71st overall.

They were the only large city to rank in the top 100.

New York and Los Angeles took places 172 and 181 respectively. Drivers in the Big Apple collide with someone or something approximately every 7 years. LA motorists do the same every 6 years.

Overall, the good news is that in 70 percent of the wrecks the car is considered drivable, which means the crashes are happening at 35 miles per hour or less.
