Protesters gathered in front of the White House in Washington, D.C. and in Times Square, New York City, to protest against possible U.S. action in Syria.

Marchers held banners and posters, shouting slogans, and called on U.S. President Barack Obama to not intervene in Syria.

Brian Becker, coordinator of The Answer Coalition that helped organize the protest, said Syrians were fleeing in unprecedented numbers.

"They Syrians are crossing the border, right now in record numbers. Why? because they fear that the Americans are going to bomb Damascus," Becker told protesters in Washington.

Meanwhile in New York City, waving flags and chanting "Hands off Syria," hundreds of protesters rallied in Times Square.

"All the U.S. brings behind is death and destruction. It's the United States which is the most genocidal, murdering regime which has ever existed on the face of this planet," protester John Dennie said.
