U.N. team returns to suspected poison gas site

United Nations weapons inspectors leaving their hotel in Damascus on Wednesday.

The team were making their second trip across the front line to take samples after an alleged chemical weapons attack last week.

The inspectors came under sniper fire on Monday and delayed their mission by a day.

This video, posted online, appears to show the inspectors driving to the rebel-held town of Maleiha in the suburbs of Damascus later Wednesday.

Escorted by carloads of cheering rebels.

Syrian activists put the death toll of last week's alleged chemical attack in this area at between 500 and more than 1,000.

President Bashar al-Assad denies his forces used poison gas against his own people.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon pleaded for the inspectors to be given time to complete their mission.
