On a recent Saturday, a single-engine airplane crashed in a cornfield. The plane was filled with four occupants and thankfully all of them escaped without any injuries.

We imagine small towns to be peaceful and surrounded by fields. But occasionally that setting is shaken by objects falling from sky.

On a recent Saturday morning, a single-engine airplane crashed in a cornfield. The plane had four occupants but thankfully all of them escaped without any injuries.

According to the Maryland State Police, the aircraft had been attempting to land at a nearby airport in Bowie, but veered from the runway and ended up in the field, landing upside down. The crash site was only about 100 feet away from the airport.

The group had rented the aircraft for a sightseeing trip. In addition to the 43-year-old pilot, a woman and her two children were also onboard at the time of the wreck.

Troopers were the first to arrive on scene. By that time, the pilot and three passengers had already exited the plane and were walking around, but they were said to be quite shaken up.

The plane, which was built in 1985, is owned by Freeway Airport and it is up to date on its certification.
