Millions of people meet each other through the online dating websites but going out with a stranger is certainly not without risk.
A 22-year-old man, Alexander Buckley, was recently sentenced to 22 years in prison after killing a woman he met online. In January of this year, Buckley met an 18-year-old female from Maryland through a phone app, called Tagged, which allows users to create profiles and contact one another.
The two communicated via the app, however they eventually moved on to having over-the-phone conversations. On January 25th, they agreed to meet in person in Washington D.C.
When they met, Buckley fatally shot Siohban Lee in the head. He then stole her cell phone and iPod before leaving the scene.
Law enforcement immediately launched an investigation and began tracking her iPhone. Police found the suspect along with the phone and handgun only hours after the fatal shooting, when the phone signal directed them to an apartment on Kennedy street.
This summer Buckley pleaded guilty to second degree murder while armed.
