Is Joss Whedon planning on taking away some of Ultron's powers in The Avengers sequel!?? That is definitely the way it sounds, and while some of you may be up in arms right now, you may want to hear what he has to say about this decision first. The director is the cover boy on this week's Entertainment Weekly, and in his interview with the mag, he says that he wants to humanize his version of the sentient super-bot baddie, and give him some real emotions. He said quote, "He's always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it, he's got a bee in his bonnet. He's not a happy guy, which means he's an interesting guy. He's got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff. So we'll take away some of those powers because at some point everybody becomes magic, and I already have someone [a new character, Scarlet Witch] who's a witch." The problem that Whedon faces with Ultron is that Ultron is essentially unstoppable. He has an all you can eat buffet of powers including genius intellect, super-human strength, flight, mind control, and speed just to name a few. And while everyone can agree that these powers are really cool, I think Whedon is concerned that giving Ultron too much power will make him less interesting to watch. But don't think that Ultron is gonna be some sort of softie. Whedon said that he is going to be very careful in walking that line between grounding Ultron AND still evoking that "pissed off" vibe that he needs to have. So, which of Ultron's many powers do you hope makes it into the final cut of the script? And do you trust Whedon to take some of these creative liberties? You all know the drill. Comment below.
